ANKARA, Oct. 3 (Xinhua) -- Türkiye's annual inflation rose to 33.29 percent in September, outpacing market forecasts, official data showed on Friday.

Consumer prices climbed 3.23 percent month-on-month, the Turkish Statistical Institute said, exceeding a survey by state-run Anadolu Agency that had forecast a 2.47 percent rise and an annual rate of 32.31 percent.

Housing costs jumped by more than 50 percent from a year earlier, while food, non-alcoholic beverages, and transport also posted sharp increases.

Inflation had eased to 32.95 percent in August from 33.52 percent in July, extending a 15-month downward trend.

Türkiye has struggled with stubbornly high inflation for years, driven by currency volatility and structural imbalances. The government has tightened monetary policy and rolled out reforms, but elevated prices continue to erode household purchasing power.
