BUCHAREST, Aug. 14 (Xinhua) -- Romanian President Nicusor Dan on Thursday signed a decree appointing Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan as interim deputy prime minister in the portfolio previously coordinated by Dragos Anastasiu, the Presidential Administration announced.

Anastasiu resigned on July 27. The resignation was formally recorded in the Official Journal on August 8.

Anastasiu had served as deputy prime minister since June, overseeing reforms of state-owned companies and the wider state apparatus, including digitalization and administrative streamlining.

Under Romania's constitution and political conventions, the prime minister may be temporarily appointed as deputy prime minister to assume additional powers or cover the duties of another deputy.
