HELSINKI, Aug. 14 (Xinhua) -- The Finnish Defense Forces and the Swedish Defense Materiel Administration have placed a joint order for advanced high-frequency radios from Finnish technology company KNL, national broadcaster Yle reported on Thursday.

According to Yle, and confirmed by KNL, the two defense authorities and the company signed a joint procurement agreement in April. The order was valued at 15 million euros (17.5 million U.S. dollars), with deliveries to be completed by the end of this year.

KNL said this is the first joint order by Finland and Sweden under the Nordic Defense Cooperation command-and-control framework, enabling the two countries' defense forces to operate more effectively with the same technology. (1 euro = 1.16 U.S. dollar)
