LISBON, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) -- The Portuguese government on Friday voiced deep concern over Israel's decision to "take over Gaza", urging the suspension of the plan and the immediate implementation of a ceasefire.
"The Portuguese government is deeply concerned about the new plan by the Israeli government to take over Gaza. The decision undermines efforts to achieve a ceasefire and worsens the humanitarian tragedy in the Gaza Strip," the Portuguese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement published on the social media platform X.
The ministry called for the suspension of the plan, the release of hostages, and the urgent entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza.
