Romanian meteorologists issue yellow heatwave warning for 15 counties

BUCHAREST, July 2 (Xinhua) -- Romania's National Meteorological Administration (ANM) issued a Code Yellow heatwave warning on Wednesday for Thursday, July 3, affecting 15 counties in the country's western and southern regions.

Temperatures are forecast to range between 33 and 37 degrees Celsius, accompanied by high thermal discomfort. The temperature-humidity index (THI) is expected to reach or slightly exceed the critical threshold of 80 units.

Meteorologists also warn that the heatwave will intensify and extend across most of Romania on Friday. The monthly forecast indicates that July is likely to be hotter and drier than usual.
