RIGA, June 3 (Xinhua) -- Latvia was elected Tuesday as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for the 2026-2027 term.
This marks Latvia's first time on the Council.
Officials and experts said the seat offers Latvia a chance to expand international cooperation and highlight regional priorities, including the protection of women in armed conflicts.
Bahrain, Colombia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Liberia were also elected. ■
