HELSINKI, June 2 (Xinhua) -- Finnish carrier Finnair cancelled around 50 flights on Monday as a strike disrupted operations at Helsinki Airport, national broadcaster Yle reported.
The walkout by members of the Finnish Aviation Union (IAU) affected ground handling and catering services throughout the day. Finnair estimated that approximately 3,600 passengers would be impacted and said it would offer rebookings or refunds to those whose flights were cancelled.
The industrial dispute between the IAU and aviation employer organisation Palta has remained unresolved since late January. While most air transport employee groups have accepted pay increases in line with national agreements, the IAU is demanding higher raises.
The union has also announced additional strike action for Wednesday. ■
