PRAGUE, Sept. 24 (Xinhua) -- Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala announced Tuesday that he will propose to President Petr Pavel the dismissal of Ivan Bartos from the post of Deputy Prime Minister for Digitization and Minister for Regional Development as of Sept. 30.
Fiala said Bartos is not able to bring the digitalization of construction procedures to a successful conclusion. According to a government statement, a special team led by the Minister of Transport Martin Kupka will be responsible for digitalization from Wednesday.
The announcement came after Bartos said on Sunday that he would resign as the leader of the Pirate Party due to the party's poor performance in the regional elections held over the weekend.
On Tuesday, Fiala also asked the Pirate Party to propose a candidate to take over the management of the Ministry of Regional Development.
Bartos called his dismissal a set-up, adding that the plan to dismiss him had not been mentioned during his morning meeting with Fiala, according to the Czech News Agency. Pirate party member and Minister for Legislation Michal Salomoun, meanwhile, said the government in the current coalition format is coming to an end.
The Pirate Party is one of the five parties in the current ruling coalition. Even without its support, the coalition would still maintain a narrow majority in the 200-seat Chamber of Deputies, the lower house of the Czech Parliament. ■
