BUDAPEST, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- A vibrant week of cross-cultural performances kicked off this week at the 2024 edition of Hungary's Sziget Festival in Budapest.
From Aug. 7 to Aug. 12, the festival on Obuda Island on the Danube river will feature over 1,000 programs across 52 venues. Nearly 200 Hungarian talents will perform, alongside artists from abroad, the festival's organizers said.
The Grand Street Theatre and Cirque du Sziget will also return to the festival.
Established in 1993, the Sziget Festival has evolved into a global sensation, drawing participants from over a hundred countries and regions. The festival hit its peak in 2018, with a record 565,000 attendees.
Last year saw a turnout of approximately 420,000 people. ■
