MOSCOW, April 8 (Xinhua) -- One police officer was killed and another wounded after being attacked on duty in the Moscow region, TASS news agency reported Sunday.
The attacker assaulted employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Noginsky district of the Moscow region and fled on a motorcycle, said the report, citing ministry sources.
The injured police officer has been sent to hospital and is in serious condition, it said.
Preliminary investigation shows that the police officers were on duty to detain a drug dealer when being attacked, RIA Novosti news agency reported, citing sources from the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
A criminal case has been opened regarding the attack, according to the Russian Investigative Committee. ■
