MOSCOW, April 3 (Xinhua) -- Russia has managed to thwart the economic blockade from the West, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said Wednesday, noting a significant rise in trade with friendly states.

"Trade turnover with friendly countries has not only grown, but is currently comparable to the volume of Russia's trade with the whole world four years ago," Mishustin said in an address at the Russian State Duma.

"The decrease in trade turnover with the European Union was largely compensated by an increase in trade with China, India, Türkiye, Belarus, Kazakhstan, the United Arab Emirates, Africa and Latin America," Mishustin said, adding that 77 percent of Russia's foreign trade was with friendly countries.

He said boosting trade ties with promising partners from friendly countries will remain one of Russia's top priorities.

The prime minister also noted that Russia has continued to expand the range of Eastern railways, with its throughput capacity reaching 173 million tons.
