RIGA, March 27 (Xinhua) -- A diplomat working at the Russian Embassy in Latvia was declared persona non grata, the Latvian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.
The Russian diplomat must leave Latvia by April 10 "over the unacceptable and provocative public communication pursued by the Embassy over an extended period," said the statement.
There has been no comment so far from Russia on the matter.
Ties between Latvia and Russia have deteriorated since 2022. In early 2023, both countries downgraded their diplomatic relations from ambassadorial level to charge d'affaires level and recalled their respective ambassadors. ■
