MADRID, Dec. 13 (Xinhua) -- All parties should join hands to promote multilateralism and address global challenges based on the principle of "seeking common ground while reserving differences," the secretary general of the World Leadership Alliance-Club de Madrid said.
Maria Elena Aguero made the remarks in a recent interview with Xinhua. She said Club de Madrid has long been committed to promoting multilateralism to address global challenges, especially in the joint response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The experience of the global fight against the pandemic showed that the countries of the world were only able to find effective solutions to the pandemic, including a vaccine, through dialogue and cooperation, she said, considering it an important lesson on how to better address global challenges and help humanity in the future.
Everyone should seek common ground, adopt a pragmatic attitude and reach consensus through dialogue, she said.
All parties need to work together to face the serious challenges of global climate change and it is vital to find a way to reduce carbon emissions and seek solutions, she added.
Aguero said Club de Madrid will use its influence to call on all sectors of society to work to lower carbon emissions and address the challenges through cooperation within the framework of multilateralism. ■
