BUDAPEST, Nov. 18 (Xinhua) -- Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban was re-elected as the president of Hungary's ruling Fidesz party here on Saturday.

Addressing the party's 30th congress, Orban acknowledged the difficulties the country had faced over the past years, including COVID-19, political shifts and economic instabilities. Despite the recent turbulent years marked by conflict and inflation, he said that the government was committed to achieving its set goals.

"We've remained on the side of peace, secured energy resources, and protected households, jobs, families and pensions," Orban said.

In his speech, Orban cautioned against scenarios involving an influx of migrants, societal disturbances, and ideological intrusions into educational spaces. He stressed the need for laws to prevent betrayals of national interests.

Orban concluded by assuring "new momentum of growth", with higher incomes, more generous family support, and a more dignified waiting period in the healthcare system.

Orban was president of Fidesz from 1993 to 2000 and has been its leader again since 2003.
