ST. PETERSBURG, Nov. 2 (Xinhua) -- Russia increased its gold reserves to a record 2,360 tons in September this year, RIA Novosti news agency reported on Thursday.
The increase in the month amounted to 44 tons, or 2 percent. As a result, the current size of Russia's gold reserves became the largest in Russia's modern history.
According to an analysis of the agency, the country remains the fifth in the world in terms of gold reserves. The United States has the largest gold reserves in the world - 8,100 tons, and Germany is in the second place with 3,350 tons. ■
