BELGRADE, July 27 (Xinhua) -- Following the extraordinary elections on June 11, the Montenegrin parliament on Thursday held an inaugural session where it confirmed the mandates of its 81 MPs.

However, the parliament failed to elect its speaker, as no candidates were proposed, Montenegrin national broadcaster RTCG reported, without providing any clues as to when it might happen.

According to a press release issued by the Montenegrin parliament, the "Europe Now" (PES) movement of President Jakov Milatovic now has 24 MPs in the parliament, while the coalition around the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) won 21 MP seats.

Next in line are the coalitions "For the Future of Montenegro" and "Count Bravely", with 13 and 11 mandates, respectively. The latter has been led by former Prime Minister Dritan Abazovic. Finally, the coalition "For You" won 2 mandates.

The remaining mandates have been distributed among the representatives of the country's ethnic minorities: the Bosnian (6), Albanian (3), and the Croat (1) ethnic groups.

In the coming days, President Milatovic is expected to hold meetings with all parties and coalitions represented in the parliament and choose a prime minister candidate, who should propose a new government within 90 days of his nomination.
