Nio launches 2 new models for European market

ROTTERDAM, the Netherlands, June 15 (Xinhua) -- Chinese electric car manufacturer NIO unveiled two new models, the EL6 and ET5 Touring, for the European market on Thursday.

The EL6 is a mid-sized SUV with a range of up to 529 kilometers while the ET5 Touring is an electric station wagon offering a range of 560 kilometers.

Tristan Hamelink, head of User Operations at NIO Netherlands, expressed his excitement about the launch at the Rotterdam NIO House, a showroom and user experience center.

He mentioned that the first-generation EL6 had been one of the best-selling models in China and highlighted the new and exciting features of the second-generation platform.

Hamelink referred to the EL6 as an "everyday hero" balancing versatility, size, and value for money. Regarding the ET5 Touring, he emphasized its design catering specifically to European users and its maximized trunk capacity.

Both models feature rechargeable and upgradeable battery technologies.

NIO is renowned for its power swap stations and currently has five stations in five Dutch cities. Hamelink also mentioned the upcoming introduction of a sixth station.

In addition, NIO has established a countrywide partnership with KwikFit, one of Europe's largest car service chains, offering up to 40 service points throughout the Netherlands.

Hamelink said that following the first NIO House in Rotterdam, the company plans to open the second in Amsterdam by the first quarter of 2024.

The company remains committed to expanding its power swap network and building more NIO Houses in the future, he added.
