LONDON, May 25 (Xinhua) -- A car crashed into the front gates of Downing Street, where the British prime minister's office and residence are located, London's Metropolitan Police (Met) said on Thursday.
"Armed officers arrested a man at the scene on suspicion of criminal damage and dangerous driving" after a car hit the gates at around 4:20 p.m. local time, the Met said in a statement.
There are no reports of any injuries and inquiries are currently underway, according to police. ■
