Malta's public service modernization showcased in first-of-a-kind expo

VALLETTA, May 10 (Xinhua) -- The first edition of Malta's Public Service Expo kicked off on Wednesday, showcasing the best digital tools used by the public service in every sector and area of life.

During the opening of the expo, Head of Public Service Tony Sultana said the event launched a new identity of the public service with the vision that more investment in technological infrastructure and digital skills can modernize the sector and the country.

This expo, which is held in Ta'Qali, central Malta, and will run until Friday, has gathered all the public administration under one roof.

Visitors to the expo can get a glimpse of unique digital solutions, such as a bomb disposal robot, a digital kitchen, holograms of statues, a passport system identifier, 3D costume scanning, various robots, eSports simulators and digital scanning of notarial archives.

Digital systems that assist the country on a national scale are also be exhibited, including the Emergency Management Control Centre, Air Traffic Demos, the dashboard of the Malta Stock Exchange, and a medicine testing laboratory among others.

According to Sultana, the modernization of the public service will continue with the introduction of new practices, more relevant procedures, and innovative tools.

"Only this way will we be able to look forward and continue to modernize this country," he said.
