ANKARA, March 31 (Xinhua) -- The total amount of Ukrainian grain exported as part of the Black Sea Grain Initiative has exceeded 25 million tons, Türkiye's Defense Ministry said in a statement on Friday.
Since the deal was renewed on March 19, more than 1.21 million tons of grain have been shipped by 31 vessels under the deal, the ministry added.
Brokered by Türkiye and the United Nations, the Black Sea Grain Initiative was signed by Russia and Ukraine in July 2022 to establish a maritime humanitarian corridor for grain and fertilizer export from Ukraine and Russia amid the conflict.
After being extended in mid-November last year, the deal was further extended on March 18. ■
