LONDON, March 17 (Xinhua) -- United Kingdom-based (UK) luxury car manufacturer Bentley Motors on Friday reported record sales of 15,714 vehicles in 2022, the first time it has retailed more than 15,000 cars in a year.
The company, which employs around 4,000 people at Crewe in England, said the latest annual figures showed an operating profit of 708 million euros (752 million U.S. dollars) last year, an 82 percent growth over 2021.
An almost 1 billion euros profit turnaround has been achieved since 2018 despite an unprecedented period of disruptions and crises including Brexit, COVID-19, semiconductor supply, Ukraine and UK economic instability, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Bentley Motors Adrian Hallmark said.
In the annual report, the company said the continued demand for sport utility vehicles (SUVs) ensured Bentayga remained its number one model, accounting for 42 percent of total sales. ■
