ANKARA, Feb. 2 (Xinhua) -- Türkiye's light combat aircraft Hurjet successfully completed its first engine test, Türkiye's Defense Industries said on Thursday.
Ismail Demir, president of Türkiye's Defense Industries, shared a video of the aircraft on his social media account with its engine working on the ground.
Türkiye's new advanced jet trainer and light attack aircraft Hurjet is developed by the Turkish Aerospace Industry (TAI).
The aircraft will replace the Northrop T-38 Talon in the trainer role and F-5s as Acrobatic Team Aircrafts in the Turkish Air Force Command inventory, it said.
Turkish Aerospace is getting ready for the maiden flight of the aircraft on March 18, it added.
Türkiye will start mass production of the Hurjet in 2025, with the first deliveries to the Turkish Air Force Command with an aim to reach two Hurjet production capacities per month, according to Türkiye's Defense Industries. ■
