BERLIN/MOSCOW/KIEV, Jan. 25 (Xinhua) -- The following are the latest developments in the Ukraine crisis:

The German government decided to supply its Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine on Wednesday and green-lighted requests by other countries to do so.

According to the local authorities, Germany would send an initial company of 14 of its Leopard 2 tanks from its own stocks.

Germany's decision to provide Kiev with its Leopard 2 tanks will escalate the Ukrainian conflict, Russian Ambassador to Germany Sergei Nechaev said Wednesday.

There are currently no prospects of a diplomatic solution to the Ukrainian crisis, local media reported, citing Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov on Wednesday.

"We can state that there are currently no prospects towards a diplomatic path," Peskov told a daily briefing.

Peskov also called the general situation in the world alarming and extremely tense. He said that taking into account the current course, which is being taken by NATO, there is no indication that the situation will improve in the near future.

The Russia-Ukraine conflict has caused 137.8 billion U.S. dollars in documented damage to Ukraine's infrastructure as of December 2022, the government-run Ukrinform news agency reported Wednesday, citing a recent study.

As compared with November 2022, the damage increased by almost 2 billion dollars due to Russia's strikes on the housing stock and public facilities, showed a study by the Kyiv School of Economics.
