SOFIA, Sept. 30 (Xinhua) -- Bulgaria's President Rumen Radev and his Azerbaijani counterpart, Ilham Aliyev, met here on Friday to discuss ways to expand bilateral cooperation on gas supply.

During Aliyev's two-day official stay in Bulgaria, the Gas Interconnector Greece-Bulgaria will be inaugurated on Saturday, Radev said in a statement after their talks.

This interconnector would enable Bulgaria to receive gas from Azerbaijan, Radev said.

"Amid the gas supply crisis, we are looking for new opportunities, for innovative solutions to solve this problem," he said.

Aliyev said that their meeting focused on supplies of additional quantities of Azerbaijan's gas to Bulgaria.

They also discussed the planned opening of an office of the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) in Bulgaria, Aliyev said. "I believe this will happen soon," he said.
