ATHENS, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) -- Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis called for resolving differences between states through dialogue based on international law.
"Every Greek woman and every Greek man feel that their safety is in good hands. That is why they close their ears to fireworks and threats, listening only to the voice of justice, but also of history which teaches that whoever violates border is finally punished," the Greek PM said during the naming ceremony of the newly built Rapid Guided Missile Patrol Vessel "VLAHAKOS" of Greek Navy at Skaramangas shipyards near Athens.
Panagiotis Vlahakos was one of three Greek officers killed when a helicopter crashed in Imia islets in the Aegean Sea during a military crisis between Greece and Türkiye in 1996.
"I will repeat this one more time: problems are solved peacefully and in accordance with international law," Mitsotakis said, according to Greek national broadcaster ERT.
Relations between Greece and Türkiye, both members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), have long been tense over a series of issues, including maritime and energy disputes in the Aegean and Mediterranean Sea. Lately they have exchanged strong remarks over many incidents. ■
