ATHENS, June 27 (Xinhua) -- Nine out of ten Greeks consider climate change a man-made crisis and one in three believe that citizens share the responsibility to address it, said a survey report released here on Monday.

Environmental destruction (17 percent) tops the list of the most serious problems the world is currently faced with, followed by wars (13.6 percent) and climate change (13.1 percent), according to the survey that was conducted for the Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Ministry.

Over half (53.2 percent) of respondents believe that central governments are mainly responsible for tackling climate change, followed by the European Union (EU, 28.7 percent), businesses (22.4 percent) and the United Nations (UN, 11.7 percent).

According to a press release, 71.1 percent said that national and EU funds should be invested in renewable energy sources, and 60 percent would not agree to imports of electricity from neighboring countries that use nuclear power plants to generate energy.

The survey was carried out in April on a sample of 2,005 Greeks by polling firm Metron Analysis.
