VIENNA, June 23 (Xinhua) -- The Austrian capital Vienna has come back to the top of the list of the world's most pleasant cities to live in, according to a report published by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) on Thursday.

Vienna topped EIU's annual chart of the world's most liveable cities in 2018 and 2019, but its rankings slipped in the following two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic and related restrictions.

The EIU awarded the top spot to Vienna again this year for its "stability and good infrastructure" as well as its "good healthcare and plenty of opportunities for culture and entertainment."

Western European and Canadian cities dominate the top of this year's rankings. Vienna is followed by Copenhagen, Zurich, Calgary, Vancouver and Geneva. Other cities making the top 10 include Frankfurt, Toronto, Amsterdam, Osaka and Melbourne. According to the EIU report, Osaka and Melbourne are placed the 10th side by side.

Damascus, Lagos and Tripoli are named as the least liveable cities, the EIU report showed.

This year's EIU report is based on the liveability assessment of 172 cities worldwide through five categories: stability, healthcare, culture and environment, education, and infrastructure.  Enditem
