Finland's GDP grows by 3.3 pct in 2021: statistics

HELSINKI, Feb. 28 (Xinhua) -- Finland's gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 3.3 percent in 2021, surpassing its pre-pandemic level from the second quarter of the year onwards, according to Statistics Finland.

The statistics agency said in a press release on Monday that calculated at current prices, the GDP was 6.1 percent higher than one year earlier.

During the entire year of 2021, primary production, including agriculture, forestry, and fishery, grew by 0.8 percent. Meanwhile, manufacturing industries grew by 3.4 percent year on year.

Building construction started to grow from the second quarter last year, but growth in civil engineering remained unchanged throughout 2021. In service industries, the value-added volume also grew from the second quarter of 2021 and continued throughout the latter part of the year.

The volume of exports grew by 4.2 percent in 2021, and that of imports by 5.0 percent.

Furthermore, the volume of government consumption expenditure went up by 2.2 percent in 2021.
