MOSCOW, Jan. 25 (Xinhua) -- Russia confirmed 67,809 new coronavirus cases over the past 24 hours, the highest daily increase to date, taking the nationwide tally to 11,241,109, the official monitoring and response center said Tuesday.
The country's nationwide death toll increased by 681 to 327,448, while the number of recoveries increased by 26,404 to 10,071,740.
Meanwhile, Moscow, Russia's worst-hit region, reported 18,935 new cases, taking its total to 2,212,980.
According to official data, around 82 million Russian citizens have received at least one dose of a vaccine, while about 78 million have been fully vaccinated as of Friday.
Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov reiterated on Monday that the possibility of a lockdown is currently not being discussed, despite a surge in cases due to the Omicron variant. ■
