MOSCOW, Jan. 9 (Xinhua) -- Russia registered 16,246 new coronavirus cases over the past 24 hours, taking the nationwide tally to 10,650,849, the official monitoring and response center said Sunday.
The nationwide death toll grew by 763 to 316,163, while the number of recoveries increased by 20,751 to 9,686,912.
Moscow, Russia's worst-hit region, reported 3,274 new cases, bringing its total to 2,053,046. The Russian capital was followed by Saint Petersburg with 1,323 new cases.
Over 79 million Russians have received at least one dose of a vaccine and over 75 million have been fully vaccinated, according to data released on Thursday. ■
