PHNOM PENH, Nov. 7 (Xinhua) -- Cambodian authorities have cracked down on 972 online scam locations and repatriated 23,760 foreigners between July 2025 and October 2026, according to a press release issued Saturday by the Commission for Combating Online Scams (CCOS).
As part of the sweeping enforcement operations, authorities revoked 18 casino licenses and suspended 10 others. A total of 5,032 suspects have been indicted and remanded in pre-trial detention.
Additionally, law enforcement agencies have frozen over 300 million U.S. dollars in bank accounts, alongside hundreds of millions of dollars in movable and immovable assets, all of which are now subject to legal confiscation procedures.
These figures were disclosed by Chhay Sinarith, a senior minister and CCOS official, during a Friday briefing.
Sinarith emphasized that Cambodia is actively conducting in-depth investigations and working closely with international law enforcement agencies to dismantle transnational criminal syndicates at their source. ■
