PYONGYANG, Nov. 5 (Xinhua) -- The Missile Administration of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on Wednesday test-fired what it called a "newly-designed advanced air-defense missile system," the official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported on Thursday.
The report said the test-launch verified the technical specifications and reliability of the projectile's new material and intelligent multiple guided mode, as well as the target identification and tracking capabilities of the air-defense missile system and its detection information processing device.
Also on Wednesday, a firepower sub-unit under the long-range strategic cruise missile unit in the eastern area conducted a firepower strike drill, according to the report.
During the drill, the sub-unit launched a long-range strategic cruise missile to strike a virtual airport target, the report said. ■
