YANGON, Nov. 5 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar's Union Election Commission (UEC) has set April 4, 2027, as the date for a by-election to fill vacant seats in various parliaments, the commission announced on Thursday.
The by-election will cover 34 constituencies in the Pyithu Hluttaw (Lower House), five constituencies in the Amyotha Hluttaw (Upper House), and 16 constituencies in the Region/State Hluttaws.
All 55 constituencies will be contested under the first-past-the-post (FPTP) electoral system, according to the announcement. ■
