ALMATY, Nov. 3 (Xinhua) -- Kazakhstan produced 8.5 million tonnes of oil in October, up from September, when output declined due to scheduled maintenance at the Karachaganak oil and gas field, the Interfax-Kazakhstan news agency reported Tuesday, citing the Kazakh Energy Ministry.

The overhaul at Karachaganak ran from Sept. 7 to Oct. 1, and production has since returned to normal levels. The ministry said in September that the maintenance was expected to reduce oil output by up to 450,000 tonnes, according to Interfax-Kazakhstan.

In June, output at Karachaganak was also reduced after deliveries to the Orenburg gas processing plant in Russia were suspended following a strike by the Ukrainian military.

In the first nine months of 2026, Kazakhstan's oil output fell 8.3 percent year on year to 69.4 million tonnes, while production at Karachaganak declined by 18 percent to 7.5 million tonnes.

Kazakhstan plans to produce 96 million tonnes of oil in 2026, according to the Energy Ministry. ■
