SYDNEY, Nov. 4 (Xinhua) -- Australian digital design giant Canva said on Wednesday that over 1,200 jobs will be impacted by a major restructure in response to slowing growth.

Canva CEO and co-founder Melanie Perkins said in a note to staff that 1,271 people, 22 percent of the technology giant's workforce, will be affected by the restructure.

"For some people, this will mean changes to their roles or being asked to relocate to centralized hubs," Perkins said.

"It will also mean saying goodbye to teammates and friends who have helped build Canva into what it is today."

She said that Canva's product, growth and platform teams will be merged into a single product organization and Sydney will become the primary home for more product teams.

The announcement comes after the Sydney-based company in August downgraded its revenue forecast for 2026, cutting growth projections from 30 percent to 20 percent, and reduced its internal valuation to 43.9 billion Australian dollars (about 30.6 billion U.S. dollars).

Perkins' note did not reference the impact of AI, but the Australian Broadcasting Corporation reported that the restructure will set Canva up to build AI-related products. ■
