ISLAMABAD, Nov. 3 (Xinhua) -- Four polio workers were kidnapped by unidentified armed men in Pakistan's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, police said on Tuesday.
The incident occurred in the Sheikh Utar union council of Tank district, police said, adding that an investigation had been launched.
Meanwhile, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi expressed concern over the kidnapping, describing it as an extremely regrettable and condemnable incident.
The governor directed the relevant authorities to take immediate and effective measures to ensure the safe recovery of the abducted workers, stressing that protecting polio vaccination teams was the government's responsibility. ■
