BANGKOK, Nov. 2 (Xinhua) -- Thailand's Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul declared the Udon Thani International Horticultural Expo 2026 open on Monday, urging international cooperation and advanced agricultural technology under the Bio-Circular-Green economic model to uplift farming livelihoods.
In his remarks, Anutin framed the 134-day exposition as a vital platform for cross-border collaboration amid mounting worldwide environmental pressures, describing the event as a momentous opportunity to welcome visitors worldwide and demonstrate Thailand's potential in horticulture, agriculture, and biodiversity.
Addressing long-term sustainability, the prime minister stressed that the investment would leave a permanent footprint for the local population. The 164.8-hectare grounds are slated for post-expo redevelopment into a public green lung, an agro-innovation and learning hub, and an international exhibition venue capable of hosting future world-scale gatherings.
Endorsed by the International Association of Horticultural Producers, the exposition runs through March 14, 2027, featuring 32 international gardens representing 17 countries and regions, alongside displays of local Isan cultural heritage, UNESCO-listed archaeological motifs, and wetland conservation technologies. ■
