ISLAMABAD, Nov. 2 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan launched a sub-national polio vaccination campaign on Monday, aiming to immunize around 24 million children under five across 97 selected districts.
The campaign, launched by the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC), will continue until Nov. 8, with more than 200,000 frontline workers conducting door-to-door vaccinations.
Pakistan and neighboring Afghanistan are conducting their polio vaccination campaigns simultaneously, the NEOC said.
The center urged parents to ensure that all children under five receive polio drops and cooperate with vaccination teams, saying repeated doses strengthen children's immunity against the disease. ■
