NEW DELHI, Oct. 31 (Xinhua) -- A Chinese film festival kicked off in New Delhi on Friday, marking the first such event in more than a decade.

Under the theme of "Two Nations, One Screen," the two-day event features the screening of around 10 Chinese films, and is attended by a host of Indians from various fields, including art, cinema, culture, academics, as well as cinema lovers.

At the opening ceremony, the Delhi International Film Festival (DIFF) President Ram Kishore Parcha said the film festival is expected to help build "a new bridge encompassing cinema, culture, traditions, and our bilateral relations."

"It will unlock fresh avenues for co-productions and artistic exchange between film-makers from both the nations," he said.

Jointly hosted by the Chinese embassy and the DIFF in association with the National School of Drama (NSD), an autonomous institution funded by India's Ministry of Culture, the event is held at the Films Division Auditorium situated in the heart of the Indian capital. ■
