SINGAPORE, Oct. 29 (Xinhua) -- A recent survey found that 88 percent of businesses were already deploying or piloting tokenized money use cases, DBS said on Wednesday.

The report surveyed 422 business leaders across 11 markets. The findings come as "businesses rewire business operations, treasury operations and financial management toolkits amid volatility and trade fragmentation," said DBS.

Among the expected benefits of tokenized money, 72 percent of respondents cited improved auditability and traceability, while 71 percent expected real-time cross-border payments. Other benefits included stronger internal controls and governance, and better treasury liquidity management.

Stablecoins were the most widely adopted tokenized instruments, used by 63 percent of respondents, followed by tokenized deposits at 53 percent and tokenized money market funds at 52 percent.

Meanwhile, 78 percent of businesses had diversified their reliance on traditional settlement currencies by gaining exposure to multiple currencies to support trade across different markets.

Only 2 percent were not considering alternative currencies, highlighting "a broader shift towards a more diverse monetary system in the future," said DBS. ■
