KUALA LUMPUR, Oct. 29 (Xinhua) -- Global aerospace firm Safran Landing Systems is investing 136 million euros (about 152 million U.S. dollars) to expand its manufacturing and heat sink refurbishment facility and establish a new carbon brake Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) center in Negeri Sembilan state.
The company said in a statement that it inaugurated both facilities on Wednesday, saying the investments would support about 100 airline operators across the Asia-Pacific region. They will support aircraft fleets including the Airbus A320, A321 and A350, Boeing 737, 777 and 787, and ATR models.
The expansion adds 7,000 square meters of advanced manufacturing space and is expected to double carbon brake disc production capacity by 2028. The facility currently employs 160 people.
Located near Kuala Lumpur International Airport, the new carbon brake MRO center will receive new and refurbished carbon brake discs from the manufacturing facility. ■
