KUALA LUMPUR, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG), the parent company of national carrier Malaysia Airlines, has outlined plans to reduce its emissions intensity under its Mid-Term Sustainability Roadmap 2026-2035, according to a statement issued on Monday.

The group has set emissions intensity targets of 30 to 35 percent by 2030 and 40 to 45 percent by 2035, measured against the 2019 baseline, as part of its commitment to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.

The roadmap, aligned with the group's Long-Term Business Plan 3.0, sets out sustainability priorities across operations, facilities, the value chain, workforce and governance.

The group also aims to reduce building energy intensity by 20 percent and achieve a 55-percent waste diversion rate by 2030.

Meanwhile, MAG and Malaysia Airports are strengthening cooperation on sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), renewable energy, ground electrification and resource efficiency to support Malaysia's aviation decarbonization agenda. ■
