KABUL, Oct. 18 (Xinhua) -- A man was killed and another injured in a blast inside a shop in Afghanistan's northern Badakhshan province on Saturday, provincial police spokesman Ehsanullah Kamgar said Sunday.
An explosive device used in mining operations exploded inside a shop in Baharak district, killing one person and injuring another, the official said.
However, the official did not identify the explosive object.
Miners in Afghanistan often use outdated machinery, employ unskilled workers and rely on explosives such as dynamite to extract underground resources, including gold and precious stones. ■
