YANGON, Oct. 15 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar marked World Standards Day 2026 at the Ministry of Science and Technology in Nay Pyi Taw on Wednesday, the state-owned daily Myanma Alinn reported on Thursday.
The theme for World Standards Day 2026 is "Shared vision for a better world: Spotlight on SDG 7 - Affordable and Clean Energy."
Speaking at the event, Union Minister for Science and Technology Myo Thein Kyaw, who also serves as chair of the National Standards Council, said this year's World Standards Day theme aimed to raise awareness of the importance of standards across various sectors, including industry and business, the report said.
Myanmar has placed significant emphasis on standardization, having approved 1,131 national standards, he said, adding that adherence to these standards would help ensure that local products meet quality requirements and create better opportunities for access to international markets. ■
