HANOI, Oct. 15 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's southern hub, Ho Chi Minh City, needs to achieve a growth rate of 13.23 percent in the fourth quarter to meet its full-year economic growth target of 10.02 percent, Chairman of the municipal People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc said Thursday, local daily Dan Tri reported.
He made the statement at a conference reviewing the city's socio-economic performance in the January-September period and discussing measures to promote double-digit growth, advance investment projects and stimulate domestic demand.
Duoc described the target for the final quarter as a major challenge, requiring authorities at all levels and across all sectors to take more decisive measures, particularly to accelerate public investment disbursement.
The city's gross regional domestic product grew 9.01 percent in the first nine months of 2026, according to the report.
Vietnam's GDP grew by 9.01 percent year on year in the nine-month period, with growth in the third quarter reaching 9.95 percent, putting pressure on localities to maintain strong growth in the final three months to help meet the country's overall growth target, local daily VnExpress reported.
The country is seeking to achieve an average annual GDP growth rate of at least 10 percent during the 2026-2030 period under the resolution of the 14th National Party Congress, according to the Vietnam News Agency. ■
