SINGAPORE, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) -- Singapore's economy grew 5.4 percent year on year in the third quarter of 2026, moderating from 6.2 percent in the previous quarter, according to advance estimates released Wednesday by the Ministry of Energy, Trade and Industry.

On a quarter-on-quarter seasonally adjusted basis, gross domestic product expanded 1.1 percent, easing from 1.5 percent in the second quarter, said the ministry.

The manufacturing sector grew 7.5 percent year on year, slowing from 12.9 percent in the previous quarter.

Output expansions in the electronics, precision engineering, transport engineering and general manufacturing clusters offset declines in the chemicals and biomedical manufacturing clusters.

Construction growth accelerated to 8.8 percent from 6.1 percent in the preceding quarter, supported by higher public and private sector construction output.

Among services industries, wholesale and retail trade, together with transportation and storage, grew 8 percent year on year, extending the 6.9 percent expansion recorded in the second quarter. ■
