CANBERRA, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) -- An Emirates flight bound for Dubai was forced to return to South Australia (SA) in the early hours of Tuesday morning due to a reported engine fire.

Flight EK441 departed Adelaide Airport for Dubai around 10:30 p.m. local time on Monday and returned to land back in the SA capital shortly after 2 a.m. on Tuesday.

Local media reported that passengers were informed the flight turned around due to an engine fire.

An airport spokesperson said fire trucks were deployed to meet the Airbus A350-900 on its return as a precaution.

Emirates said that the flight returned to Adelaide due to a technical fault and that everyone onboard safely disembarked.

The airline said it would accommodate passengers with onward connections. ■
