MANILA, Oct. 9 (Xinhua) -- The Asian Development Bank (ADB) said on Friday it has approved a financing package of 305.75 million U.S. dollars to support Nepal's highways and protect wildlife habitats.
The program consists of a 285 million dollar capital loan, a 20 million dollar grant and 750,000 dollars in technical assistance, according to ADB.
The fund will support rehabilitation and expansion of two highways in Nepal, and construct an elevated highway section across a wildlife zone to reduce vehicle-wildlife collisions, it added.
ADB said that by combining resilient infrastructure with wildlife-friendly design, the transport investment project can improve connectivity, support biodiversity conservation, promote sustainable development and inclusive economic growth. ■
