ULAN BATOR, Oct. 9 (Xinhua) -- Mongolia's foreign trade turnover increased by 34.6 percent year on year to 25.9 billion U.S. dollars in the first nine months of 2026, according to data released by the National Statistics Office (NSO) on Friday.

The country recorded a trade surplus of 6.5 billion dollars during the January-September period, the NSO said.

The growth was largely driven by a surge in mining exports, which accounted for nearly 90 percent of Mongolia's total exports during the period.

Mongolia traded with 161 economies worldwide in the first nine months of 2026, with China remaining the largest trading partner. ■
