India's forex reserves dip by nearly 13 bln USD

NEW DELHI, Oct. 9 (Xinhua) -- India's foreign exchange (forex) reserves decreased by 12.952 billion U.S. dollars to 734.606 billion dollars during the week ended Oct. 2, showed the latest weekly bulletin released by the country's central bank on Friday.

This was the fourth consecutive week when India's forex reserves had declined. In the preceding week, they had fallen by over 18 billion dollars.

According to the bulletin of the Reserve Bank of India, the foreign currency assets fell by 10.664 billion dollars to 604.747 billion dollars. The gold reserves decreased by 2.288 billion dollars to 106.413 billion dollars, while the Special Drawing Rights rose by 15 million dollars to 18.656 billion dollars.

India's reserve position in the International Monetary Fund weakened by 15 million dollars to 4.789 billion dollars. ■
